The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Ploiesti as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Ploiesti smashed 14th ranked Timba Timosoara at home 108-70. The game without a history. Ploiesti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.0 percent from the field. Ploiesti forced 25 Timba Timosoara turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Ploiesti looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Dragan Zekovic (210-87, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Adrian Gutoaia (198-90, agency: Court Side) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. Ploiesti's coach Vladimir Arnautovic felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) who recorded 22 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and point guard Valentin Pacurariu (185-88) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Timba Timosoara lost tenth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Concordia. Timba Timosoara will play next round against Targu Mures trying to get back on the winning streak. Ploiesti will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Craiova on the road.
