Regular Season Round 12: Recklinghausen - Wolfenbuettel 92-74

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (2-10) lost on the road to seventh ranked Recklinghausen (6-6) 92-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Recklinghausen. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel was better in second period 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Recklinghausen dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's 30. They outrebounded Herzoege Wolfenbuettel 49-31 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. Guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) replied with 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and guard Demetrius Ward (190-90, college: W.Michigan) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. Recklinghausen moved-up to sixth place in Group North, which they share with SU Medien. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Recklinghausen will face Bochum (#8) on the road in the next round. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play against Spot Up Medien Baskets in Braunschweig and hope to win that game.
