Regular Season Round 12: Nevezis - Dzukija 55-69

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Nevezis (7-5) against eighth ranked Dzukija (5-7) on Sunday night. Host Nevezis was defeated by Dzukija in Kedainiai 69-55. The game was mostly controlled by Dzukija. Nevezis was better in second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dzukija dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 22. They outrebounded Nevezis 47-21 including a 37-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Paulius Dambrauskas (195-91) chipped in 7 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) who recorded 17 points and 4 assists and forward Arvydas Siksnius (196-87, college: Weatherford JC) added 18 points respectively. Dzukija moved-up to fifth place. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with five games lost. Dzukija's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked LSU-Atletas (#11) in Kaunas where they are favorite. Nevezis will play at home against Siauliai (#7) and hope to win that game.
