Regular Season Round 10: Anadolu Efes - Besiktas 64-57

Very expected game in Istanbul where 9th ranked Besiktas (4-6) was defeated by second ranked Anadolu Efes (8-2) 64-57 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-10. But Besiktas won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Anadolu Efes won last quarter 22-17. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 9 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee, agency: Allegiant Athletic Agency) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import center Colton Iverson (208-89, college: Colorado St.) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anadolu Efes have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record behind leader Banvit BK. Loser Besiktas keeps the ninth place with six games lost. Anadolu Efes will face Aliaga (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Besiktas will play against Royal Hali in Gaziantep and hope to win that game.
