Regular Season Round 12: U.Mobitel.CN - Steaua CSM 79-74

There was no surprise in Cluj where 10th ranked Steaua CSM (5-7) was defeated by seventh ranked U-Mobitelco (8-5) 79-74. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-17 Steaua CSM's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 79-74 at the end of the game. U-Mobitelco dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Steaua CSM's 30. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. U-Mobitelco players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. It was a good game for Montenegrin guard Branko Cuic (197-78, agency: 011 Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Serbian forward Ivan Kuburovic (202-81) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Robert Nyakundi (203-89, college: SMU) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian forward Bozo Djurasovic (200-87) added 16 points in the effort for Steaua CSM. Four U-Mobitelco and five Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. U-Mobitelco moved-up to fifth place. Steaua CSM lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. U-Mobitelco will play against bottom-ranked Farul Const. (#14) in Constanca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Steaua CSM will play at home against CSU Sibiu (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
