Regular Season Round 12: Tonybet - Nevezis 62-61

Second-ranked Nevezis (7-5) was very close to win a game against first ranked Tonybet (11-2) in Prienai on Wednesday. Tonybet managed to secure only one-point victory 62-61. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 18-5 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Tonybet dominated on the defensive end, holding Nevezis to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Strangely Nevezis outrebounded Tonybet 37-0 including a 11- advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who saved his team from a defeat with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) contributed with 9 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) replied with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Simas Buterlevicius (200-89) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Nevezis. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Tonybet have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-2 record. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with five games lost. Tonybet will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nevezis will play at home against Siauliai and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
