We should mention about the upset which took place in Bursa, where higher ranked Tofas (5-6) lost at home to fourteenth ranked Mersin (3-8) 72-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 22-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mersin made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Mersin outrebounded Tofas 44-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) helped adding 21 points and 8 rebounds. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and international swingman Serhat Cetin (197-86) scored 14 points. Tofas' coach Ahmet Caki rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mersin moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Selcuk Univ. Loser Tofas keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Besiktas and Olin Edirne. Mersin will meet at home higher ranked Turk Telekom (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tofas will play against the league's second-placed Anadolu Efes and will have a slim chance for a victory.
