Regular Season Round 11: Aliaga - Anadolu Efes 71-85

Very expected game when 13th ranked Aliaga (2-9) was defeated at home by second ranked Anadolu Efes (9-2) 85-71. It looked good early as Aliaga took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Anadolu Efes had a 26-17 second period charge getting the lead and Aliaga was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-85. Anadolu Efes dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Aliaga's 38. It was an exceptional evening for American Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) who led the winners and scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international power forward Semih Erden (211-86) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Anadolu Efes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Ceyhun Altay (196-86, agency: Court Side) came up with 20 points and 4 assists and American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Aliaga in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-2 record behind leader Banvit BK. Aliaga at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Anadolu Efes' next round opponent will be Tofas (#10) in Bursa and are hoping to win another game. Aliaga will play on the road against Besiktas (#8) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
