Regular Season Round 12: Istanbul Univ. - Fenerbahce 45-58

The biggest surprise of round 12 in TKBL was guest Fenerbahce's (10-2) road victory over second-best Istanbul Universitesi (9-3) 58-45 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Istanbul Universitesi. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Fenerbahce dominated on the defensive end, holding Istanbul Universitesi to just 6 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was international guard Birsel Vardarli (175-84) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. International center Quanitra Hollingsworth (196-88, college: VCU) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Shenise Johnson (180-90, college: Miami, FL) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Fenerbahce have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Kayseri. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Fenerbahce is looking forward to face league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against Botas in Adana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
