There was no surprise in Bamberg where 9th ranked Phoenix Hagen (6-7) was defeated by second ranked Brose Bask. (11-3) 104-93 on Sunday. The game without a history. Brose Bask. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 32-of-33 free shots (97.0 percent) during the game. Brose Bask. outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 45-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Phoenix Hagen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Elias Harris (203-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 25 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Trinidad and Tobago-American center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Phoenix Hagen's coach Ingo Freyer tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains second position with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader B.Muenchen. Loser Phoenix Hagen keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Brose Bask. will face s Oliver Baskets (#14) in Wuerzburg in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Phoenix Hagen will play at home against Artland Dragons (#3) and hope to win that game.
