Regular Season Round 11: Galatasaray - Trabzonspor 87-81

There was no surprise in Istanbul where 14th ranked Trabzonspor (2-9) was defeated by fourth ranked Galatasaray (8-3) 87-81. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Galatasaray shot 63.0 percent from the field. They also forced 19 Trabzonspor turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 72.2 percentage. 30 personal fouls committed by Trabzonspor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Ender Arslan (190-83) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 4 assists. International Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT, agency: 1x1 Sports) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and New Zealand guard Kirk Penney (196-80, college: Wisconsin, agency: Duran International) added 23 points respectively for Trabzonspor in the defeat. Five Galatasaray and four Trabzonspor players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Galatasaray have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Usak and Karsiyaka. Newly promoted Trabzonspor dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Usak (#4) on the road. Trabzonspor will play against Fenerbahce Ulker (#6) and hope to win that game.
