Regular Season Round 11: BC Donetsk - Khimik 86-95

Top ranked BC Donetsk (10-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Khimik (9-1) 95-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BC Donetsk. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But BC Donetsk won third quarter 30-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Jamal Shuler (191-86) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Khimik and four BC Donetsk players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimik have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-1 record behind leader BC Donetsk. BC Donetsk at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Khimik are looking forward to face Azovmash (#6) in Mariupol in the next round. BC Donetsk will have a break next round.
