Regular Season Round 9: Astana Tigers - Tim-Scuf 80-81

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Higher League took place in . This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Astana Tigers (1-11) to third ranked Tim-Scuf (5-7) 81-80 on Monday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Astana Tigers won fourth quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Astana Tigers 37-25 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for center Miriam Uro-Nilie (190-94) who saved her team from a defeat with 21 points. Forward Darya Zavidna (185-93) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international forward Ganna Zarytska (182-86, agency: Data Plus Group) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Uzbekistani-Russian center Alla Krasovskaya (188-87) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Astana Tigers. Four Tim-Scuf and five Astana Tigers players scored in double figures. Tim-Scuf maintains third place with 5-7 record having two points less than leader Dynamo. Astana Tigers lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Tim-Scuf are looking forward to face Interkhim (#4) in Odessa in the next round. Astana Tigers will play on the road against the league's second-placed Elizabeth-Basket in Kirovograd and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
