The game in Mariupol was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Khimik (10-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Azovmash (6-6). Khimik managed to secure a 7-point victory 79-72. It looked good early as Azovmash took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Khimik took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 7 points. Azovmash was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jamal Shuler (191-86) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) who added 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. Khimik's coach Karlis Muiznieks allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Coleman Collins (207-86, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Beo Basket) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Kevin Houston (178-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Azovmash at the other side dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Halychyna. Khimik will play against Budivelnyk (#6) in Kyiv in the next round where they are favorite. Azovmash will play on the road against Dnipro in Dnepropetrovsk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
