Regular Season Round 12: Mersin - Turk Telekom 88-72

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Mersin (4-8) won against 11th ranked Turk Telekom (4-8) in Akdeniz 88-72. The game was mostly controlled by Mersin. Turk Telekom was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Turk Telekom 45-33 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jordan Theodore (182-89, college: Seton Hall) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Mersin's coach Mete Babaoglu used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Joshua Shipp (196-86, college: UCLA) who recorded 20 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and swingman Polat Kaya (197-86) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Mersin have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Turk Telekom. Turk Telekom lost fourth consecutive game. Mersin's next round opponent will be league's leader Banvit BK in Balikesir and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
