Top ranked Zepter Vienna (11-2) recorded its second loss in Wien on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Raiffeisen Wels (8-5) 89-80. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 49-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Zepter Vienna outrebounded Raiffeisen Wels 25-0 including a 19- advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. Five Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) who recorded 27 points and Serbian center Nenad Sulovic (202-85) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Raiffeisen Wels moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Oberwart. Defending champion Zepter Vienna still keeps top position with two games lost. Raiffeisen Wels is looking forward to face Xion Dukes (#7) in Klosterneuburg in the next round. Zepter Vienna will play on the road against Furstenfeld Panthers (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
