Regular Season Round 15: Gelisim - Istanbul DSI 80-67

Everything went according to plan in Izmir where sixth ranked Gelism (10-5) won against 15th ranked Istanbul DSI (5-10) 80-67 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 33-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Gelism forced 23 Istanbul DSI turnovers. It was a great evening for Canadian power forward Ryan Wright (206-87, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gelism players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Cihad Sahin (203-83) with 8 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) scored 21 points and 4 assists. Istanbul DSI's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gelism have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Istanbul DSI dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Gelism will meet league's leader Darussafaka in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Istanbul DSI will play against Yesilgiresun (#5) and hope to secure a win.
