Regular Season Round 15: Bayreuth - MBC 77-83
Date: December 28, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked BBC Bayreuth (3-12) lost at home to twelfth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (7-8) 83-77. It looked good early as BBC Bayreuth took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mitteldeutscher BC had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and BBC Bayreuth was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-83. The best player for the winners was American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (203-89, college: USF) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) chipped in 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican point guard Kevin Hamilton (193-84, college: Holy Cross) who recorded 16 points and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mitteldeutscher BC. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Ludwigsburg. BBC Bayreuth lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC's next round opponent will be higher ranked Telekom Bsk (#5) in Bonn and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
