Regular Season Round 14: Mersin - TED Ankara 66-55

Date: December 28, 2013
There was no surprise when 14th ranked TED Ankara (1-13) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Mersin (7-7) 66-55. The game was mostly controlled by Mersin. TED Ankara was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mersin won last quarter 20-10. TED Ankara was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and American-FYR Macedonian forward Ashley Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) supported her with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by Nigerian swingman Mactabene Amachree (190-78) did not help to save the game for TED Ankara. American center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh, agency: LBM Management) added 8 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mersin moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Antakya. TED Ankara at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Mersin will play against higher ranked Istanbul Universitesi (#4) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TED Ankara will play at home against Antakya (#6) to get more than just one victory in their record.
