Regular Season Round 15: ALBA - NY Phantoms 98-79

Very expected game when 12th ranked New Yorker Phantoms (6-9) were smashed on the road by seventh ranked ALBA Berlin (9-4) 98-79. The game was mostly controlled by ALBA Berlin. New Yorker Phantoms was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to New Yorker Phantoms' 26. They outrebounded New Yorker Phantoms 43-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. ALBA Berlin players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Croatian power forward Leon Radosevic (208-90) who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Akeem Vargas (192-90, college: Iowa Lakes CC, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) who recorded 31 points and the other American import guard Immanuel McElroy (194-80, college: Cincinnati) added 6 points and 6 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for ALBA Berlin. They moved-up to sixth place. New Yorker Phantoms lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. ALBA Berlin's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Walter Tigers (#18) in Tuebingen which should be an easy win for them. New Yorker Phantoms will play at home against s Oliver Baskets (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
