An interesting game took place in Karsiyaka where 4th placed Karsiyaka (9-4) was upset on its own court by fifteenth ranked Trabzonspor (3-10) 72-64 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Karsiyaka. Karsiyaka trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 64-72 at the end of the game. Trabzonspor shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) fired 26 points for the winners. New Zealand guard Kirk Penney (196-80, college: Wisconsin, agency: Duran International) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) produced 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) added 5 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Trabzonspor moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Royal Hali and Selcuk Univ. Loser Karsiyaka keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Fener.Ulker. Trabzonspor will meet at home higher ranked Royal Hali in the next round. Karsiyaka will play against Turk Telekom (#12) in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
