The game between closely ranked teams ended with 17th ranked Hacettepe's (3-13) road loss to sixteenth ranked Pertevniyal (5-11) in Istanbul 79-86 on Friday. Hacettepe trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 35-26 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-86 at the end of the game. Pertevniyal shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pertevniyal made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. American center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Pertevniyal's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Bosnian forward Dejan Jeftic (200-89) replied with 31 points and 7 rebounds and forward Atakan Denk (194-91) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hacettepe. Pertevniyal moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Istanbul DSI. Hacettepe lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 13 games lost. Pertevniyal will face higher ranked Antalya (#12) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hacettepe will play against Istanbul DSI (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
