Regular Season Round 16: Pamukkale - Istanbul B.B. 79-70

The most important game in the last round took place in Pamukkale between third ranked Istanbul B.B. (10-6) and eleventh ranked Pamukkale (9-7) on Saturday night. Istanbul B.B. was defeated by Pamukkale in a tough game on the road 70-79. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-12. But Istanbul B.B. won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Istanbul B.B. outrebounded Pamukkale 39-0 including a 13- advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Istanbul B.B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Latvian guard Armands Skele (192-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Pamukkale players scored in double figures. Pamukkale's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Tufan Onen (202-89) replied with 21 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Marque Perry (185-81, college: St.Louis, agency: N.E.T.) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Istanbul B.B.Pamukkale have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Balikesir. Istanbul B.B. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Pamukkale is looking forward to face Final Genclik (#11) in Bursa in the next round. Istanbul B.B.'s supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul ITU Istanbul.
