Very important is a road loss of third ranked Esgueira (8-4) against fourth ranked Ginasio (8-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Esgueira was defeated by Ginasio in a tough game in Figueira da Foz 67-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Esgueira. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 24-11 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for international center Marco Goncalves (206-84) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds. Naturalized Cape Verdean forward Joaquim Soares (198-83) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Samuel Loio (180-89) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and forward Antonio Gaioso (188-87) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Esgueira in the defeat. Ginasio moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Esgueira dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Ginasio will play against bottom-ranked Angrabasket (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Esgueira will play against the league's leader Illiabum (#1) in Ilhavo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
