Regular Season Round 13: Sakarya - Edirne 54-108

TKB2L top team - Edirne (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Sakarya (3-6) 108-54. The game without a history. Edirne led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Sakarya's 34. Edirne forced 37 Sakarya turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Edirne especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Sakarya's players. Forward Sanem Gamze Zeren (178-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). Guard Oya Salter (170-76) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists for the winners. Four Edirne players scored in double figures. Sevgi Esenler (-88) answered with 9 points and 11 rebounds and Ozgenur Gun (-91) added 14 points in the effort for Sakarya. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Edirne have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-0 record, which they share with Cankaya. Sakarya lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Edirne is looking forward to face Izmir Eda (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sakarya will play against Mersin Kurtulus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
