Very predictable result in Braunschweig where sixth ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (7-6) smashed 11th ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (2-11) 98-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Spot Up Medien Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's 24 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Herzoege Wolfenbuettel 42-26 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Martin Bogdanov (183-92) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Brian Wenzel (196-91) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Coach Liviu Calin's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Demetrius Ward (190-90, college: W.Michigan) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 12 points. Spot Up Medien Baskets moved-up to fifth place in Group North, which they share with Oldenburg. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Spot Up Medien Baskets will face Stade (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play against SC Rist Wedel and hope to win that game.
