No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (13-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Mersin (7-9) 60-55 on Saturday. Istanbul Universitesi forced 21 Mersin turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Nilay Kartaltepe Yigit (172-79) who scored 13 points and 5 assists. American guard Shenise Johnson (180-90, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import point guard Matee Ajavon (170-86, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Istanbul Universitesi. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Kayseri. Loser Mersin keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Istanbul Universitesi will face Antakya (#7) in Hatay in the next round. Mersin will play at home against the league's leader Galatasaray and hope to win that game.
