No shocking result in a game in Yuzhny where first ranked Khimik (11-2) defeated 3rd ranked BC Odessa (9-5) 83-73 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Khimik made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Latvian Rolands Freimanis (206-88) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Matt Gatens (195-89, college: Iowa) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. The former international Andriy Agafonov (208-86, agency: Interperformances) produced 17 points and American swingman Erik Daniels (204-82, college: Kentucky) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Khimik maintains first position with 11-2 record. BC Odessa at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Khimik will face bottom-ranked Dnipro (#14) in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BC Odessa will play at home against Mykolaiv (#11) and hope to win that game.
