Regular Season Round 13: Stade - Rist Wedel 83-87

Very expected game when 12th ranked Stade (2-11) was defeated at home by third ranked SC Rist Wedel (10-3) 87-83 on Sunday. Stade was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 30-20 charge of SC Rist Wedel, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. point guard Diante Watkins (175-90, college: Robert Morris) stepped up and scored 25 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners and Davey Hopkins (195-88, college: Biola, CA) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Davon Roberts (197-86, college: Azusa Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Reggie Hopkins (180-88, college: Queens, NC) scored 23 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SC Rist Wedel have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of Group North leader, which they share with Stahnsdorf and Hannover. Stade lost tenth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. SC Rist Wedel will face Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stade will play against Spot Up Medien Baskets in Braunschweig and hope to win that game.
