Regular Season Round 14: Aliaga - Tofas 73-91

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Aliaga (2-12) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Tofas (7-7) 91-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Tofas. Aliaga was better in third quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aliaga 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Tofas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri) who scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Dogan Senli (204-92) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) produced 17 points and forward Bora Pacun (210-87) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Tofas and four Aliaga players scored in double figures. Tofas maintains eighth position with 7-7 record. Aliaga lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Tofas will face higher ranked Royal Hali in Gaziantep in the next round. Aliaga will play on the road against Turk Telekom (#12) in Ankara and hope to win that game.
