Regular Season Round 14: Cherkasy - Budivelnyk 55-82

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Cherkasy (5-7) was crushed at home by fifth ranked Budivelnyk (9-5) 82-55 on Sunday. The game without a history. Budivelnyk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Budivelnyk had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Cherkasy was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was naturalized Lithuanian center Michailis Anisimovas (216-84) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. Budivelnyk's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Jason Washburn (208-90, college: Utah) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Igor Chumakov (207-90) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Budivelnyk have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with BC Odessa. Cherkasy at the other side dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Budivelnyk will face DniproAzot (#13) in Dniprodzerzhynsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cherkasy will play at home against Azovmash and hope to win that game.
