Regular Season Round 16: Fortuna - Utena 73-65

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Fortuna (9-7) beat 6th ranked Utena (4-12) in Klaipeda 73-65. It looked good early as Utena took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fortuna had a 24-13 second period charge getting the lead and Utena was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-73. Fortuna made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Utena turnovers. International power forward Egle Siksniute (198-91) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Sakellie Daniels (170-84, college: Charlotte) produced 12 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals and international center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fortuna maintains fourth position with 9-7 record. Utena lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Fortuna's next round opponent will be league's leader Kibirkstis-VICI in Vilnius and it may be the game of the week. Utena will play on the road against Suduva (#3) in Marijampole and hope to win that game.
