Regular Season Round 20: Randers - Bakken 87-84

Date: January 9, 2014
Important game to mention about took place in Aarhus. Second ranked Randers (12-3) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Bakken (10-2) 87-84 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bakken. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Bakken won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bakken 55-44 including 19 on the offensive glass. Bakken was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 23 rebounds and international swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) supported him with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by the former international center Chris Christoffersen (218-79, college: Oregon) did not help to save the game for Bakken. American forward Brandon Penn (203-90, college: Rider, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. Bakken's coach Ville Tuominen tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Randers keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Bakken keeps the third place with two games lost. Randers will play against SISU (#6) in Copenhagen in the next round where they are favorite. Bakken will have a break next round.
