Important game to mention about took place in Wels. Third ranked Gussing Knights (12-4) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Raiffeisen Wels (9-7) 85-83 on Friday evening. Raiffeisen Wels were ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 23-16 charge of Gussing Knights, which allowed them to win the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. It was a good game for international point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: TSS Management) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Heard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston) replied with 24 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) added 10 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Raiffeisen Wels. Four Gussing Knights and five Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kapfenberg. Raiffeisen Wels at the other side keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Gussing Knights will play against Redwell Gunners Oberwart (#5) on the road in the next round. Raiffeisen Wels will play against UBC St. Polten in St.Polten and hope to get back on the winning track.
