Regular Season Round 17: Akhisar Bld - Ankara DSI Era 82-69

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Ankara DSI Era (11-6) against fourth ranked Akhisar Bld (11-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Ankara DSI Era was defeated by Akhisar Bld in Akhisar 82-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ankara DSI Era. Ankara DSI Era was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Nic Wise (178-87, college: Arizona) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Emre Ozpulat (200-82) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Akhisar Bld players scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Latvian center Kaspars Kambala (206-78, college: UNLV) produced a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and guard Burak Yonder (197-86) added 10 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Akhisar Bld moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Ankara DSI Era. Akhisar Bld will meet at home Maliye Milli (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ankara DSI Era will play against Gelism (#7) in Izmir and hope to secure a win.
