Regular Season Round 17: Yesilgiresun - Darussafaka 69-64

Date: January 11, 2014
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Darussafaka (13-4) in Giresun on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Yesilgiresun (12-5) 69-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Darussafaka. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Yesilgiresun made 8 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Yesilgiresun players scored in double figures. point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) responded with 17 points and power forward Lawrence Roberts (206-82, college: Mississippi St.) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Darussafaka's coach Orhun Ene rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Yesilgiresun have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-5 record behind leader Darussafaka. Darussafaka at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Yesilgiresun are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Bandirma Kir. (#18) in Balikesir in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Darussafaka will play on the road against Hacettepe (#17) in Ankara and is hoping to win this game.
