Regular Season Round 15: BC Kyiv - Ferro-ZNTU 78-85

Date: January 11, 2014
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Ferro-ZNTU (9-5) beat on the road 9th ranked BC Kyiv (6-8) 85-78 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But BC Kyiv won second period 26-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ferro-ZNTU won last quarter 19-14. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: David Lee services) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jake O'Brien (206-89, college: Temple) accounted for 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. American point guard Lee Humphrey (189-84, college: Florida) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Maksim Sandul (207-91) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for BC Kyiv in the defeat. Four Ferro-ZNTU and five BC Kyiv players scored in double figures. BC Kyiv's coach Vitaliy Cherniy rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferro-ZNTU maintains fifth place with 9-5 record. Loser BC Kyiv keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Ferro-ZNTU will meet at home bottom-ranked Dnipro (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BC Kyiv will play against the league's second-placed BC Donetsk (#2) and hope to secure a win.
