Regular Season Round 17: Crailsheim - Jena 107-98 OT

Crailsheim Merlins (12-5) survived in overtime against Science City Jena (12-5) by nine points 107-98 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Science City Jena. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 23-21 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 9-point victory in overtime. Crailsheim Merlins forced 22 Science City Jena turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Science City Jena was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: E.Michigan) who scored 39 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Jonathan Moore (203-82, college: N.C.Central) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. American point guard Garrett Sim (185-90, college: Oregon) produced 27 points and 7 assists and the other American import swingman Billy Rush (201-88, college: Robert Morris) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Science City Jena's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Crailsheim Merlins have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Jena. Crailsheim Merlins will face Kirchheim Knights (#6) on the road in the next round. Science City Jena will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#5) and hope to win that game.
