Regular Season Round 17: Ludwigsburg - Brose Bask. 69-80

Date: January 11, 2014
Very predictable result when second ranked Brose Baskets (14-3) beat on the road 9th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (8-9) 80-69. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 24-11 run, which allowed them to win the game. Brose Baskets made 29-of-35 charity shots (82.9 percent) during the game. American-Bosnian guard Zack Wright (191-85, college: Central Mo.) nailed 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Slovakian point guard Anton Gavel (189-84, agency: Pro One Sports) accounted for 24 points. American guard Coby Karl (196-83, college: Boise St., agency: Priority Sports) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Keaton Grant (193-86, college: Purdue) added 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for EnBW Ludwigsburg in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Brose Baskets. Defending champion maintains second place with 14-3 record behind leader B.Muenchen. EnBW Ludwigsburg at the other side keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Brose Baskets' next round opponent will be BBC Bayreuth (#16) on the road which should be an easy win for them. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against SC Rasta Vechta (#14) and hope to win that game.
