Regular Season Round 13: Virum - Aabyhoj 60-89

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Aabyhoj (7-6) smashed on the road 9th ranked Virum (2-12) 89-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Aabyhoj led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Virum's 32. Aabyhoj forced 23 Virum turnovers and outrebounded them 51-36 including 20 on the offensive glass. Virum was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Maria Jespersen (182-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American center Britt Harris (188, college: W.Washington) chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side forward Louise Hansen (175-95) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ivana Kostic (177-85) scored 5 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aabyhoj maintains sixth place with 7-6 record. Virum lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. Aabyhoj will face higher ranked Lemvig (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
