Regular Season Round 12: Freiburg - Bamberg 74-69

Date: January 11, 2014
No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (5-7) defeated at home bottom-ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (2-10) 74-69. Don Bosco Bamberg was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 39-31 second half run of Eisvogel Freiburg. The winners were led by forward Ilka Hoffmann (183-94) who scored that evening 17 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 10 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks by American center Brett Benzio (190-90, college: Tulane) did not help to save the game for Don Bosco Bamberg. Bulgarian forward Radoslava Bachvarova (183-87, college: VCU) added 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Don Bosco Bamberg's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Eisvogel Freiburg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Donau-Ries. Don Bosco Bamberg lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Eisvogel Freiburg's next round opponent will be higher ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against the league's second-placed Rhein Main Baskets (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
