Regular Season Round 12: Lichterfelde - Wolfenbuettel 59-65

Very expected game when 10th ranked Lichterfelde (4-8) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (7-5) 65-59. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 17-10 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Lichterfelde outrebounded Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel 46-30 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Iwalani Rodrigues (175, college: Utah) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Savannah Stedman (188-89, college: Northwestern) supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 19 rebounds by Noemie Rouault (180-95) did not help to save the game for Lichterfelde. Power forward Satou Sabally (184-98) added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Lichterfelde keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel's next round opponent will be league's second-placed SG BBZ Opladen in Leverkusen and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lichterfelde will play on the road against TG Neuss (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
