Regular Season Round 15: Turk Telekom - Aliaga 96-80

Date: January 12, 2014
Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Turk Telekom (6-9) won against bottom-ranked Aliaga (2-13) in Ankara 96-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-80. Turk Telekom shot 61.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for the former international point guard Kerem Tunceri (191-79) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Croatian center Luksa Andric (208-85, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Turk Telekom's coach Ertugrul Erdogan used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) answered with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Aliaga. Five Turk Telekom and four Aliaga players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Besiktas and Olin Edirne. Aliaga lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Turk Telekom will face higher ranked Tofas (#8) in Bursa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aliaga will play on the road against the league's leader Banvit BK (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
