Regular Season Round 16: Nevezis - Zalgiris 65-84

An interesting game took place in Kedainiai where higher ranked Nevezis (8-8) was upset on its own court by ninth ranked Zalgiris (6-3) 84-65. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Nevezis was better in fourth quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Paulius Jankunas (203-84, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Valdas Dabkus (205-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Nevezis. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Nevezis lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Zalgiris' next round opponent will be league's leader Tonybet in Prienai and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nevezis will play at home against Lietkabelis and hope to win that game.
