Regular Season Round 15: Banvit BK - Besiktas 80-72

TBL top team - Banvit BK (14-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Besiktas (6-9) in Balikesir 80-72. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Besiktas won fourth quarter 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit BK dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Besiktas' 32. It was a great evening for American-Azerbaijani center Charles Davis (205-84, college: Alabama) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Banvit BK players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Bradley Buckman (203-84, college: Texas) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Mehmet Yagmur (188-87) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Banvit BK have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Besiktas lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Turk Telekom and Olin Edirne. Banvit BK will play against bottom-ranked Aliaga (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Besiktas will play against Selcuk Universitesi (#15) in Konya and hopes to get back on the winning track.
