Date: January 13, 2014
The game between third ranked Anadolu Efes (11-4) and fifteenth ranked Selcuk Universitesi (4-11) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Anadolu Efes was defeated by Selcuk Universitesi in a tough game in Konya 72-76. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 26-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Selcuk Universitesi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Derrick Low (196-86, college: Washington St.) contributed with 9 points and 10 assists for the winners. Four Selcuk Universitesi players scored in double figures. Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 19 points and the former international power forward Semih Erden (211-86) added 15 points in the effort for Anadolu Efes. Anadolu Efes' coach Vangelis Agelou tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Selcuk Universitesi moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Trabzonspor. Anadolu Efes at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Fener.Ulker. Selcuk Universitesi is looking forward to face higher ranked Besiktas (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anadolu Efes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Galatasaray (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
