Regular Season Round 16: Siauliai - Lietkabelis 62-50

Very expected game when 11th ranked Lietkabelis (3-15) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Siauliai (7-8) 62-50. It looked good early as Lietkabelis took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Siauliai had a 19-13 second period charge getting the lead and Lietkabelis was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-62. Siauliai forced 19 Lietkabelis turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward David McClure (198-86, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St.) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Russian center Ivan Nelyubov (207-88) replied with 9 points and 5 rebounds and American center Ryan Olander (213-90, college: Fairfield) added 6 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Lietkabelis. Lietkabelis' coach Algirdas Brazys rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Lietkabelis lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Siauliai's next round opponent will be LSU-Atletas (#10) in Kaunas where they are favorite. Lietkabelis will play on the road against Nevezis in Kedainiai and hope to win that game.
