Regular Season Round 14: Amager - Stevnsgade 82-59

Date: January 16, 2014
There was no surprise in Kastrup where 5th ranked Stevnsgade (8-6) was crushed by second ranked Amager (12-2) 82-59 on Thursday. It was a great shooting night for Amager especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Maria Dinesen (170-90) who scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Catharina Jensen (183-89) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Amager players scored in double figures. Forward Iben Soltau (186-86, college: St.Bonaventure) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Stevnsgade's coach Mogens Tygesen gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Amager have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record behind leader SISU. Newly promoted Stevnsgade dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Aabyhoj and Lemvig. Amager will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stevnsgade will play at home against the league's leader SISU (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
