Regular Season Round 18: Giessen 46ers - Goettingen 73-99

An interesting game for BG Goettingen (15-3) which played road game in Giessen against 4th ranked Giessen 46ers (11-7). First ranked BG Goettingen had an easy win 99-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Giessen 46ers. The game was mostly controlled by BG Goettingen. Giessen 46ers managed to win third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Giessen 46ers 34-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. BG Goettingen shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: W.Virginia) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Jermaine Mallett (190-88, college: Missouri St., agency: Interperformances) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. BG Goettingen's coach Johannes Roijakkers felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Benjamin Lischka (199-89, agency: LUMANI 10.7) replied with 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Joshiko Saibou (188-90, agency: Pro One Sports) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Giessen 46ers. Four BG Goettingen and five Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. BG Goettingen have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-3 record. Giessen 46ers at the other side keep the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Chemnitz. BG Goettingen are looking forward to face ETB Wohnbau (#11) in Essen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Giessen 46ers will play at home against BV Chemnitz 99 (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
