Date: January 17, 2014
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Oradea (10-3) in Cluj on Friday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked U-Mobitelco (9-5) 70-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Oradea. Oradea was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 15-12 charge of U-Mobitelco, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Oradea outrebounded U-Mobitelco 26-0 including a 16- advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Darius Hargrove (193-82, college: Virginia Union) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Mihai Silvasan (200-85, agency: Court Side) chipped in 21 points during the contest. The former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Australian-Trinidad and Tobago swingman Daniel Dillon (194-86, college: Arizona) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. U-Mobitelco have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 9-5 record, which they share with Rovinari. Oradea at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. They share the position with CSU Sibiu and Ploiesti. U-Mobitelco is looking forward to face CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (#6) on the road in the next round. Oradea will play against the league's second-placed CSU Sibiu (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
